Biscuit firing juni 3, 2014 14:27
There are busy in the workshop and right now I'm in the process of producing ceramics for the summer craft fairs. The raw cast porcelain items pile up on the shelves and it's about time to pack the kiln for a biscuit firing. The biscuit firing is the first firing, where the water is burned out of the clay and it therefor obtains strength so it can to be decorated and glazed. In the pictures above you can see shelves with raw cast DOTS tableware - 16 DOTS milk jugs with newly sponged edges and on the last image you can see the kiln room, which is currently being packed with ceramics. There is room for about 300 pieces of pottery in a biscuit fire.
